
Times Herald-Record, recordonline.com receive awards
NEW YORK (August 11, 2008) — The Hudson Valley Media Group of Middletown, N.Y., part of the Local Media Group of Dow Jones & Company, received several awards for print and online efforts in the 2007-08 New York State Associated Press Association contest.
The Times Herald-Record newspaper and its recordonline.com web site took first place for online content for its Varsity 845 local sports site, created by Sports Editor Matt Pepin and his staff. Also taking first place were reporter Christine Young and videographer John Pertel for their multimedia package, “I didn’t do that murder.” Reporter Steve Israel won first place in arts and entertainment writing and Arts editor Robin Rothman won first place for headline writing. Overall, the print and online entries received 11 awards for reporting and writing.
